Selamat Datang and Welcome to the Malaysian Club Deutschland e.V. Website!
Introduction
Malaysian Club Deutschland e. V. (MCD) is located in Frankfurt with membership comprising of mostly Malaysians, and is open to all fans and friends of Malaysia. MCD is a non-profit and non-political organisation. The Club's objectives include and not limited to: promoting Malaysian culture, traditions to our friends in Germany, to foster friendship amongst Malaysians, locals and other nationalities and offer platforms for Malaysians living or based in the Rhein Main area to meet with other Malaysians and their families.
MCD was founded in June 1997 in Frankfurt with a modest membership of 40 Malaysians, which has now grown to approximately 200 members made up of Malaysians, Germans and other nationalities. We celebrate all important Malaysian events and festivals, such as - Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Deepavali, Christmas and our most auspicious one, Malaysia's National Day or Merdeka, which falls on 31 August.
As one of Malaysians' favourite past-times is eating, we also organise regular "Stammtische" events at selected Malaysian/Chinese/Thai restaurants, where members can talk about food while enjoying it. We also organise cooking seminars, Malay lessons and Malaysian handicrafts. MCD hopes that with all these activities we are able to make our Malaysian friends and their families feel "at home" while proudly introducing our culture and traditions to our friends in Germany. With that, we hope you will enjoy breezing through our websit, and we welcome any feedback and suggestions for any activities, the website, etc. Once again, Welcome, Selamat Datang and Herzlich Willkommen!

A message from the President of MCD for 2010...
Updates!
Updated : 31st July 2010
It is already middle of 2010!! How time files! We had a wonderful time at the Parade of Cultures. Thank you everyone for visiting our stall and supporting the Malaysian Club. We sold almost for 12 hours and our food was completely sold out!!
We also threw a farewell party for the Consul General and MCD Patron, En. Saiful. We thank him for his contributions and tireless support for the Malaysian Club. We shall miss him and his family dearly.
We are now planning for the next event, MCD Sommerfest (12th Sept) as well as MCD Annual Gala (7th Nov).
We have also updated our news column to highlight an achievement from one of our members. Any other members who wishes to share their proud moment with the club, please do send it to us.
Dear Members and friends,
Where is the sun - we all ask? We were teased with some sunshine in March, a little in April - then the volcano ashes came, then more grey and rain! Hopefully, we will get to take our t-shirts and shorts or sarongs or skirts out soon for our upcoming Parade der Kulturen and Sommerfest!
Our last event, welcoming the Year of the Tiger came and went, I hope that everyone who came enjoyed the steam boat and delicious starters prepared by the Yang Jin Restaurant Team. I have to say the organising team led by Michelle, Yu-Shan, Faiza, Frank, Mael, Siti, Claude and others overdid themselves yet again. What could we have done without all your hard work?? Thank you so much for the time and efforts to make our events a resounding success every time.
How time pass......it's almost the middle of the year already, as they say, time passes when you are having fun! The Committee is working on our next event, the Parade der Kulturen, which will be located at the edge of Roemer and on the Main Ufer. This will be on Saturday, 26th June. MCD has booked a stall where select Malaysian food will be prepared and sold. We have sent out an email to all members looking for volunteers who would like to take this opportunity to show your cooking talent. We have had many ideas like selling rice/rendang, laksa, nasi lemak, roti canai, satay, curry puffs, fried bananas, etc. As Malaysian food is so diverse, there's a wide variety of dishes that can be prepared and sold. If anyone's interested, please do email us and let us know if you would like to participate.
Since space will be limited to only three persons/sellers at the stall - hurry! Next to our stand will be an info stand taken up by Asian Adventures, Albert Sham. He will be there with special offers to Malaysia, and that too, should help be a crowd puller. In case you are planning to travel to Malaysia on holidays, please pop by his stand. We are also looking for volunteers to participate in the parade itself. We hope to have between 10 - 15 participants dressed in traditional Malaysian costumes, from Malay to Chinese to Indian to ethnic groups from Sabah and Sarawak to showcase our "Malaysia, Truly Asia" diversity. So, also write in if interested. Bring your families and friends along to enjoy an afternoon of culture!
Next event after the Parade der Kulturen will be our Sommerfest which will be held on the 12th of September. The Asian Social Business Circle (ASBC) will be joining us for this event again, as they did a couple of years ago. We will advise everyone of the date, once it is confirmed. The location will be the same, at Ostpark. We welcome ideas for games, etc. As always, we also welcome pot luck of salads, desserts, etc, so do let us know what you have in mind.
So, a couple of events to look forward to - as well as lots of sunshine - before the start of Ramadhan (around 11th August) and Hari Raya Aidil Fitri (11-12th September).
The Committee has met a few times this year, and we have received feedback/suggestions to revamp/improve the way we hold events, i.e. frequency, concept and size of events, etc. We also look to you, members, to provide us with ideas and feedback on how we should organise events in the future, so that we can meet most, if not all, your wishes. E.g. should we hold more/less events, on smaller/larger scale, free/paying events, more Stammtische or not at all, etc.? MCD is a Club for all members, so it would be helpful to hear from you. We are working on a survey shortly, and will have it emailed to you when it's done. We would appreciate all your input.
On that note, I would like to once again, thank everyone for their kind donations to the Rumah Nur Salam children. I had a opportunity to visit the home in March with Chef Ismail, and it was so moving and opened our eyes to see how many less fortunate children there were. They were all wide-eyed, innocent children who were either abandoned, orphaned or abused, left to their own to survive. The children's age range from infancy to their teens, and the founder, Raja Azizan and his wife were so very appreciative of our members' generosity and kindness for the donations. Anyone interested to visit Rumah Nur Salam during their trips to Kuala Lumpur are most welcome. Chef Ismail has since, organised several charity events in the name of Rumah Nur Salam - thank you so much, Chef for your generosity.
Finally, thank you all, for all your support and loyalty and we look forward to seeing everyone at our next events. Stay warm, healthy and happy - until we meet again, salam sejahtera and take care.
Sincerely,
Rosita Rahman-Heilek
President
